Grayson Switzer - Week 6 Devlog

When developing character designs for interaction within the game, prioritizing their appeal was paramount to captivate players. These characters possess the potential for greater dynamism, given their animations primarily involve simple and often idle movements, in contrast to the main character's more complex actions. Currently, the designs are intricate and require simplification; thus, the inclination is towards enlarging their heads and torsos while shortening their limbs. This adjustment aims to enhance their visual appeal and facilitate animation. As we contemplate additional characters, simplicity remains a guiding principle. Future non-playable characters (NPCs) will delve deeper into the native species inhabiting the game's various regions. These may include monkeys, capybaras, flamingos, alligators, frogs, parrots, bugs, kiwi birds, geese, seals, turtles, fish, shrimps, and sun bears. Each species will contribute to the game's immersive world, offering unique interactions and insights into their behaviors and habitats. With the different environments within each location, we aim to enrich the player's experience and foster a deeper connection to the game's environment. Moreover, simplicity in character design ensures that each NPC remains distinct and easily recognizable, facilitating player engagement and immersion. As we continue to develop the game, these characters will play specific roles in order to help shape the story and lead the player through the challenges found at each stage. A few also get to just sit and look pretty. :)
